Job Summary:

This person processes medical, dental, and vision claims for their assigned clients and occasionally may be requested to help other team members process claims when someone is out of the office. This job requires an employee to be familiar with keyboarding since our company standard of processing claims is to have them entered in the computer within five days of receipt.  This position is also responsible for taking phone calls, responding to emails and faxes concerning their group’s claims.  Claims Account Managers work together in teams so it is often necessary to assist other Account Managers with phone calls regarding their groups during lunches, vacations, etc. as needed.  Therefore, this essential team support requires the employee to work inside the office. This position requires excellent customer service skills.  This position is much more than data entry although that is a large part of the position.  This job requires knowledge of the client’s plan and their requirements regarding the benefits.  A claim can be a routine claim with a simple application of a payment code or it can be a complex scenario requiring additional records, forms, professional review, etc. before completion and payment is rendered. 


Job Qualifications:

High school diploma or G.E.D.  Some college helpful, but not required.

Polite, courteous, and professional phone skills.

Excellent attendance - hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Excellent customer service and a desire to exceed customer expectations.

Familiarity with word processing programs, Microsoft Outlook, and working knowledge

of WLT is helpful. 

Good organizational skills.

Self motivated and self starter.

Willingness to learn.


Essential Functions:

Auditing Specialist Duties:

This position audits claims for payment accuracy such as, date of service, provider of service, diagnostic & procedure codes, modifiers, account number, coverage codes and plan benefit type that are over the Claims Account Manager’s check max to include spot checks.  It also involves releasing and or resetting prior to the bill day.  Due to the daily feedback of audit returns to the claims processor this person must work inside our office.  They may also be called on to audit any claim charges that are over $10,000 since they require a review by two auditors.  This job requires basic knowledge of our PPO’s, fee schedule maintenance, group maintenance, provider maintenance and provider lists if applicable and any and all other duties that may be assigned.


Job Qualifications:

Familiarity with claims processing is helpful but not required

High School Diploma or GED.  Some college helpful, but not required

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required

Good math skills are very helpful

Attention to detail and able to meet deadlines are critical to success

Professional phone communication skills that include being polite and courteous

Good organizational skills and excellent customer service

Good writing skills using proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure

Self-motivated & self-starter with a willingness to learn.
